Joel Nelson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on November 19, 1971. He graduated from Grinnell College in 1994 with a degree in English and was co-captain of the baseball team. He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1997.

From 1997 to 1998, Mr. Nelson was a staff attorney with Legal Services of Southeast Nebraska. He is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) National Session and served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard D. Sievers of the Nebraska Court of Appeals from 1998 to 1999.

Mr. Nelson joined the firm in 1999 where his practice centers on personal injury, workers’ compensation, insurance defense, and commercial litigation. His experience includes over 20 jury trials, over 30 workers’ compensation trials, and 5 arguments to the Nebraska Supreme Court. Nelson both brings and defends civil lawsuits, and he works closely with the firm’s labor lawyers to protect the rights of law enforcement officers and other government employees.
